SSEF Opening Races Report

HELLO ATHLETES, PARENTS AND FRIENDS OF SSEF,

Our season is off to a great start with all our Alpine teams now having one race series under their belt.

The racing portion of season kicked off with the Alpine A team taking a trip to the U16 Qualifiers in Jackson where Regan Harrison (16th), Whitney Diamond (26th), Emma Pagano along with Callum Dibble made they way down the wicked CRAGS MORAN course in Super G at Teton Village.

For a complete set of result for the U16 Qualifiers you can click here.

The next series out of the gate was our Alpine B Team U14 athletes with a trip to Sun Valley to compete in the U14 Slalom and Giant Slalom qualifiers at Rotarun and Sun Valley/Grayhawk. SSEF came away with podium finishes in both Slalom and Giant Slalom in the Ladies Races. In a near SSEF Sweep in Slalom race one, with athletes Dyllan Guay - 2nd, Kira Thomas - 3rd and Avery Costello - 4th the awards were owned by SSEF as the top 5 are recognized by the Division. In the Ladies second Slalom Dyllan and Kira held on to 2nd and 3rd while Avery Costello barley missed the podium placing 6th with Ella Dressen charging into a top 20 finish. McCall Callantine, Cambell Jones, Aspen Vierra, Avery Johnson Mia Pagano all had strong finishes.

When the Ladies took to Greyhawk for the Giant Slalom, podiums were again spoken for by Dyllan and Kira but this time the pair were 1st and 2nd respectively.

Then it was time for the boys to take to the courses. In the Slalom races, Everett Paulman barely missed a top 10 finish placing 12th while Elijah Hartman (26), Fletcher Paulman (42) and Calvin Cui (41) were consistently staying in the top half of the field.

The GS proved to be a bit more challenging but the boys remained in the upper half of the Field.
