The U16 team consists of motivated 14- and 15-year-old athletes who compete in local and regional USSA events. The U16 is tailored to offer the most dedicated coaching and attention to our skiers through regular conditioning, on-snow training, technical discussion, and video analysis. Participation in autumn dryland conditioning is expected for U16 athletes. At the U16 level, the emphasis is on the technical and tactical aspects of racing. Groups split their time between all-mountain skiing, technical drills, gate training, speed event skiing (Super-G).

New participants wishing to enter the Club at the U16 level must first speak with the Alpine Program Director, as significant skiing experience is expected for this group.

Skill Development Focus
Increased focus on competition and racing while continuing to develop a lifelong passion for skiing. Main focus is on developing tactical proficiency in Super G, giant slalom and slalom, while reinforcing all-mountain skiing, hill safety.

U16 athletes will compete in 15-25 races (race days) per winter.

Within the Intermountain Division, the U16 group will compete in Intermountain U16 Qualifier races.

SST will travel with U16 athletes to appropriate races, which includes a Regional Championship in March.

The Snowbasin Sport Education Foundation  is committed to a culture of family participation, team building, social gatherings while supporting our youth through winter sport development.

There will be many opportunities for parents to be involved with events and competitions (especially to work off your work deposit obligation).  We need help with races, freeride competitions, club fundraisers and individual team  activities such as coordination of team tents at races etc.

On the Calendar, our Ski & Snowboard Swap will be held October 28-30 and will be the first big event for the team! Sign ups to help are coming soon!

Following the Swap, the “Winter Welcome” will make it’s way back on the calendar after a year of COVID, and if you want to have a ton of fun, this event is for you!

We look forward to meeting all of you and hope you will join our Club!
